Mac Setup Guide

Prerequisites

  • An Intel-based Mac running macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or newer
  • At least 20GB of free disk space
  • The AzuriteWoW Mac launcher from our downloads page
  • Administrative access to your Mac

Important: AzuriteWoW currently only supports Intel-based Mac computers. Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) Mac users may experience compatibility issues.

Step 1: Download and Install AzuriteWoW

  1. Download the Mac launcher from our downloads page
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag the AzuriteWoW Launcher to your Applications folder
  3. Launch the application and follow the installer prompts
  4. The launcher will download the game client files
  5. Make note of your installation directory - you'll need this for the next steps

Note: While our launcher works natively on macOS, the game client itself requires a compatibility layer to run properly.

    • Executable: Browse to and select "Wow.exe" in your installation directory

Troubleshooting

  • Performance Issues: macOS compatibility layers consume additional resources. Try lowering in-game graphics settings and closing other applications before playing.
  • Graphical Glitches: Try different Wine versions or toggle DXVK settings in your compatibility layer.
  • Black Screen: Change the game to Windowed Mode through the game's configuration files or try launching with different graphics options.
  • Game Crashes: Check the Wine console logs for error messages that may help identify the issue.

Mac setups can vary significantly. If you encounter issues not covered here, please join our Discord for community support.

Note: Our support focuses on PlayOnMac installations. While Lutris is a viable alternative, you may need to seek help from the Lutris community for issues specific to that method.

Apple Silicon Users: While our game will work on Apple Silicon Macs through Rosetta 2 or Parallels, running the game itself may require additional configuration and performance may be reduced. We recommend using an Intel-based Mac for the best experience.
